ECCO Annual Meeting

Join us for the ECCO Annual Meeting

Pizza & Socializing 6:00 p.m.  Meeting 6:30-8:30 p.m.

  • Hear updates on Minneapolis 2040 Comprehensive Plan, followed by neighborhood discussion.
    Note: Mayor Jacob Frey has been invited; response pending. Watch for email updates.

  • Learn about ECCO events and programs.

  • Elect new ECCO board members. Nominations will be accepted before and at the meeting. Renters, homeowners, new to the neighborhood, young and old welcome!

New board members needed!
Six of 13 positions on the ECCO Board (plus two alternates) are open for election. A term is two years long. Nominations are made and voted on at the Annual Meeting. Submit your own name for nomination either in advance of (nomination form available here) or at the Annual Meeting. Candidates must be at least 18 years old and live in East Calhoun.

Responsibilities include attendance at monthly board meetings (first Thursday at 7 pm) and participation in at least one committee. Time commitments for each vary. Labor Day Celebration

Join us for all the fun and festivities! Parade, games, potluck dinner and bingo!

  • Parade featuring the Southwest High Marching Band begins at 3:00 p.m.
    Arrive at 2:30 p.m. to decorate bikes, strollers, pets, etc! 
    Decorating supplies will be available.
  • Games for all ages.
  • Potluck dinner at 4:15 p.m. Please bring a dish to share for the potluck dinner.  
    Note: Chipotle is NOT able to donate burritos this year so main dishes are needed. 
  • Bingo starts after dinner.

Ward 10 Meeting for Minneapolis 2040

Join Ward 10 Minneapolis City Council President Lisa Bender and Heather Worthington, Minneapolis' Director of Long-Range Planning, to hear about Minneapolis 2040, the City's draft Comprehensive Plan. 

An overview of the draft plan will be presented. Ask your questions and share your thoughts. This document will guide Minneapolis' growth in the coming decades, and addresses a broad range of issues including housing, transportation, equity, sustainability, our local economy and more.   

The draft Minneapolis 2040 plan is open for public comment until July 22. See the draft and learn more here: minneapolis2040.com.

ECCO Street Party moves indoors!

Same great party -- just inside!

The ECCO Board invites you to a neighborhood block party, complete with live theater, games and food!
 
Join us for a community potluck dinner and activities for all ages, featuring a pop-up mobile game trailer called sPARKit! (checkers, chess, cards, uno, dominos, jenga, candy land, sorry, boche ball, frisbee, bubbles and more).

We also feature a puppet show, "Greta's Garden," performed by Seth Eberle from 6:00-6:30 p.m.

Hot dogs, veggie burgers and beverages provided by the ECCO Board.

NOTE: Please bring a dish to share. Table and chairs will be available at the church.

Saturday, June 2 marks the 46th annual ECCO Super Sale.

Sale hours: 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  

Registration is now closed.

The Super Sale is an annual event sponsored by the ECCO Board in which all ECCO residents are are invited to have a garage or yard sale on the same day.

Earth Day Clean Up at Bde Maka Ska

New date: Saturday, May 12!

Join your East Calhoun neighbors in this annual Minneapolis citywide spring clean up. 
Meet near the Bde Maka Ska Refectory.

Volunteers needed and appreciated. Coffee and snacks will be offered to volunteers. 

Stop by and help as you can! No pre-registration required. Bring your own work gloves. Trash bags and directions will be provided.

Public Hearing - Hennepin Ave Reconstruction Assessment

A public hearing will be held during the Transportation and Public Works Committee of the Minneapolis City Council.
The City will hold a public hearing to consider the project, assessments, and the abandonment and removal of areaways in conflict with the project.

The committee will consider all oral and written statements about the project. If you are unable to attend the hearing, you may submit written comments in sufficient time for it to arrive prior to the public hearing to:

ECCO Healthy Home Workshop

Free event! Pizza served from 6:30-7:00 p.m.

Learn about the potential dangers and solutions for health risks in your home: lead in your drinking water and radon.

  • Hear from experts from the Minneapolis Water Works and the Minnesota Department of Health who will explain the health concerns with lead and radon.
  • Receive free kits to test for lead in your drinking water and radon from the  ECCO Board.
  • Learn about possible solutions if the test results show elevated levels of lead or radon.

Presenters are Karla Peterson of the Minnesota Department of Health, George Kraynick of the Minneapolis Water Works and Scott Arcand of the Minnesota Department of Health.

Funds for these programs and others are provided by ECCO's Neighborhood Revitalization Program (NRP) funds.
